About this blog.

[draft-only]
a very brief explanation of the title
(to prevent any misunderstanding of the same)

lets break down the title into 2 parts:
1. Defending and 2. the Trinity.

in the context of the title, these mean respectively the following:
1. Defending
by 'defending' i mean apologetics - i.e. doctrinally defending the dogmas concerning the Trinity as understood by the ancient Church, in particular the dogmatic definitions of the Seven Ecumenical Councils and the Nicene Constantinople Creed.

2. the Trinity
the Eastern Orthodox Church's understanding of God as Triune -i.e. the understanding of God as three hypostasis roughly translated into English as 'persons'.
i specify Eastern Orthodox - because the west's understanding of the Trinity is not the same. This point cannot be stressed enough and i will repeatedly make recourse to stating it. Similarly the heretic christology of the oriental monophysites (who are NOT ORTHODOX by the way) also does not reflect the same Trinitarian understanding. this will be demonstrated when as we begin our study of Christology.

- - -
i understand the title itself is somewhat ambiguous.
i hope that the above two hasty definitions will prevent any confusion. if not, then i hope reading the articles will clear up any ambiguity that remains.

the importance of the Trinity
the understanding of God as Triune is the very core of the Christian Faith.
dogmatically speaking, it is what most radically demarcates it from other so called 'monotheistic faiths' (such as Judaism, Islam, etc.).
